Mount Sinai Doctors Medical Group is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse for full-time day shifts at the West 8th Primary Care location. In this role, you will provide direct patient care in a primary care setting, working under the supervision of a Registered Professional Nurse to deliver skilled nursing care to an assigned group of patients.
Responsibilities
- Participate in the application of the nursing process to assigned patients
- Perform skilled nursing care tasks including vital signs, pulse oximetry, venipuncture, and standard peripheral IV insertion
- Insert and maintain urinary catheters and perform simple dressing changes
- Administer IV fluids following completion of annual competency IV therapy training
- Monitor patients receiving blood products and TPN under RN direction
- Administer medications via all routes except IV push/bolus (except Normal Saline or heparin flush) and central lines; cannot administer chemotherapy or immunotherapy
- Perform point-of-care testing including blood glucose monitoring
- Assist with patient assessment after initial RN assessment, including pain management
- Carry out medical and nursing orders (cannot accept verbal orders or RN standing orders)
- Make, report, and record observations on assigned patients within the electronic medical record
- Observe and report signs and symptoms of patient condition changes
- Participate in health teaching to patients and families following RN-developed teaching plans
- Establish an environment that promotes physical and emotional comfort
- Perform hourly care checks and support the patient experience
- Organize supplies and equipment necessary for the plan of care
- Contribute specified data to patients' medical records
- Provide age-appropriate care based on patient population served
- Participate in quality improvement activities
- Maintain patient and employee confidentiality
- Participate in patient care conferences and continuing education
- Demonstrate professional, courteous, and respectful interactions with patients, families, and staff
- May be required to perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Active New York State Licensed Practical Nurse license
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA or Red Cross
Preferred Qualifications
- One or more years of experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse
Compensation
- Hourly rate: $33.59 - $42.92
- Actual salary depends on experience, education, and operational need
- Salary range does not include bonuses, incentive pay, differential pay, or other forms of compensation or benefits
