The University of Iowa Community Clinics (UICC) is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to work at the UICC Heartland Drive Internal Medicine Clinic on an 80-100% basis (32-40 hours per week). This position will primarily support the Heartland Drive Internal Medicine Clinic but may float to other patient specialties and clinic locations based on clinical need or hours.

Clinical Setting

UICC provides comprehensive primary care services including pregnancy and baby wellness, vaccinations, school and athletic physicals, acute visits, annual check-ups, mental health services, and on-site laboratory services. The clinic builds relationships with patients, monitors their care history, and delivers personalized, compassionate care. When specialty care is needed, patients are connected with appropriate UI Health Care specialists.

Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care under the supervision of a registered professional nurse
  • Participate in the development of nursing care plans and implementation of therapeutic programs for patients
  • In less complex situations, assume responsibility for directing and supervising assigned nursing personnel; in more complex situations, perform as an assistant to the registered professional nurse
  • Handle and process laboratory specimens as needed

Required Qualifications

  • Active license as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with the Iowa Board of Nursing, or eligibility for temporary work permit
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) provider certification
  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards
  • Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Responsibility to maintain valid LPN certification through required continuing education

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience with EPIC electronic health record system
  • Previous Internal Medicine clinical experience
  • Experience handling and processing laboratory specimens

Schedule

  • Variable hours Monday through Friday between 7:30 AM and 5:30 PM
  • No weekends, on-call time, or holidays required
  • Full-time, merit appointment

Location

  • Coralville, IA, with potential assignment to surrounding clinic locations based on clinical need or hours

Compensation and Benefits

  • Hourly pay: $21.77 - $32.43 per hour (based on years of experience)
  • Annual salary at 100% time: $45,455.76 - $67,713.84
