Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse for our Transitional Care unit. In this full-time position, you will provide direct nursing care under the supervision of a registered nurse, supporting patients through their care transitions while working the night shift.

Fort Sanders Regional is a 444-bed hospital recognized as a Joint Commission Comprehensive Stroke Center, offering specialized services in stroke recovery, bariatric surgery, robotic surgery, minimally invasive spine procedures, and advanced orthopedic care. The facility is part of Covenant Health, East Tennessee's largest nonprofit health system.

Schedule

  • Full-time position
  • 72 hours per pay period
  • Night shift

Responsibilities

  • Initiate admission database and history in collaboration with the RN
  • Implement patient and family teaching and care needs
  • Perform and prioritize nursing care tasks
  • Follow the nursing plan of care and medical orders under RN direction
  • Observe, report, and document nursing interventions and patient responses in a timely and accurate manner
  • Recognize and report changes in patient conditions to the RN Team Leader
  • Administer IV venipuncture and parenteral fluids per hospital protocol
  • Perform advanced patient care treatments as approved per hospital protocol
  • Demonstrate infection control principles and collaborate with the infection control nurse
  • Assist in orienting new employees or students to unit routines
  • Participate in unit-specific quality assurance activities and patient care conferences
  • Maintain a safe environment for all patients, including reporting equipment issues, suspected abuse, mistreatment, neglect, and suspected criminal activities
  • Comply with all regulatory standards, hospital policies, and procedures
  • Complete required annual education assignments
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Current licensure by the Tennessee Board of Nursing as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
  • IV certification required within 90 days of hire
