Licensed Practical Nurse

Direct Care and Treatment (DCT) is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse to provide respectful, comprehensive, and person-centered direct care services to individuals in residential homes operated by Minnesota State Operated Community Services (MSOCS). This position serves individuals with mental illness, substance abuse disorders, and developmental and intellectual disabilities.

Clinical Setting

You will work in a residential care environment within DCT's specialized behavioral health care system, which includes psychiatric hospitals, inpatient mental health treatment facilities, inpatient substance abuse treatment facilities, group homes, and other community-based settings.

Responsibilities

Under the direction of the RN, you will provide direct nursing care within the scope of LPN practice, including:

• Take temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure readings
• Administer and record prescribed medications
• Maintain clinical charts and reports on the physical and emotional state of clients
• Promote and participate in rehabilitation activities
• Maintain a clean and hazard-free environment
• Promote clients' personal hygiene
• Regulate parenteral fluids and administer intramuscular injections as appropriate
• Administer emergency first aid
• Order supplies and equipment
• Perform and assist individuals in demonstrating household management tasks to maintain safe, clean, and homelike living environments
• Demonstrate understanding of individuals' skills, capabilities, and preferences
• Facilitate individual development by involving individuals in decision-making
• Empower and support individuals' choices in accordance with individualized program plans
• Participate in daily operations to ensure meeting licensure requirements, household needs, and safety
• Correct unsafe conditions immediately or ensure they are corrected by notifying appropriate resources
• Follow established procedures for reporting individuals' accidents and injuries
• Incorporate individuals' experiences and cultural backgrounds into daily routines
• Operate a motor vehicle and possess a current, valid driver's license

Schedule and Travel

This is a part-time, unlimited position. You will work all shifts, including days and evenings, and all days of the week, including weekends. Travel is required to transport and accompany individuals to medical appointments, community outings, recreational activities, and spiritual events.

Required Qualifications

• Current licensure in Minnesota as a Practical Nurse
• Valid driver's license
• Future Practical Nurses within six months of graduating and taking the NCLEX-LPN are encouraged to apply; contingent job offers may be made upon successful completion of degree and passing of NCLEX-LPN

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working effectively with individuals from different backgrounds and cultures

Compensation and Benefits

Salary Range: $27.53 - $35.21 per hour; $57,482 - $73,518 annually

Candidates may be eligible for a hiring bonus up to $2,500. Current employees are not eligible for the hiring bonus.
