UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for a part-time or per diem position. Under the supervision of the Nurse Director or designee, you will provide nursing care to assigned patients and coordinate patient care activities to help patients move safely and efficiently through their hospitalization.
Responsibilities
- Assess and plan patient care using the nursing process
- Perform nursing tasks according to policy and procedure
- Function effectively in urgent and emergent situations
- Delegate tasks effectively to nursing staff
- Coordinate information exchange between staff, physicians, and administration
- Manage changing patient flow and acuity on the unit
- Document patient information using correct formats
- Report significant patient information in a timely manner
- Use effective communication techniques appropriate to the patient's level of understanding
- Assist in monitoring improvement initiatives
- Support new techniques and procedures to improve efficiency and quality of patient care
- Participate in hospital councils or committees
- Pursue learning opportunities such as clinical ladders and clinical certifications
- Promote cooperation and understanding, serving as a teacher and role model
Required Qualifications
- Graduation and training from an accredited school of nursing
- Current license from the Massachusetts Board of Registration for Nurses (B.O.R.N.)
- American Heart Association BLS certification for healthcare providers (required upon hire or during orientation)
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of one year of general medical-surgical nursing experience
Schedule
- Part-time or per diem position
- 40 hours per week (scheduled hours)
- Non-exempt status

- This position involves significant physical demands including standing, walking, sitting, talking/hearing, using hands for fine motor tasks, pushing/pulling, stooping/kneeling, and reaching
