Correctional Healthcare Partners is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide nursing care to patients in Lewis County Jail. This is a PRN (as-needed) position offering $49 per hour.
Clinical Setting
You will work in a correctional healthcare environment, providing medical, mental health, and dental care services within a county jail facility. You will work under the supervision of registered nurses and physicians as part of an interdisciplinary healthcare team.
Responsibilities
- Take and document patient history and vital signs
- Assist with patient examinations and treatments
- Report all changes in patients' conditions
- Administer medications and document administration on the Medication Administration Record (MAR) in the electronic health record (EHR)
- Perform venipuncture and intravenous therapy as approved by your immediate supervisor
- Collect samples, specimens, and cultures as requested by provider order
- Assist with daily triage and sick call
- Assist with minor medical and surgical procedures
- Transcribe all therapeutic orders generated by the provider
- Initiate and document prescribed protocol treatment in compliance with company policies and procedures
- Use all functions and applications of the EHR relevant to the position and assist with staff training as requested
- Communicate effectively with clients, peers, and employees at all levels
- Work cohesively with the Health Services Administrator (HSA), Director of Nursing (DON), and RN(s) in coordinating the healthcare delivery system
- Ensure nursing processes and systems are followed according to policies, procedures, company performance standards, and accreditation standards
- Assist with evaluating the quality and effectiveness of clinical services and developing systems to monitor patient care and safety
- Comply with continuing education requirements for your position and maintain awareness of National Commission on Correctional Health Care (NCCHC) standards
- Participate in all monthly, quarterly, and annual meetings as assigned and required
- Notify management of critical information that may negatively impact client, vendor, or patient care relations
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited practical or vocational nursing program
- Current, unrestricted nursing license in the state of employment
- Valid CPR card
- Minimum of one year of clinical experience in a healthcare setting
