Griffin Memorial Hospital is seeking Licensed Practical Nurses to join our Adult Inpatient departments on the PM shift. This is a full-time position at a 120-bed acute psychiatric hospital serving adults aged 18 and over with severe mental illness and substance abuse disorders. You will provide direct and indirect professional nursing care under the supervision of registered nurses or licensed physicians in a fast-paced mental health treatment environment.

Clinical Setting

Griffin Memorial Hospital is a Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (ODMHSAS) treatment center located in Norman, Oklahoma, serving all 77 counties in the state. The hospital specializes in acute psychiatric inpatient care for adults experiencing severe emotional disorders, psychiatric illness, and substance abuse.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical direct and indirect nursing care in the hospital under the supervision or direction of registered nurses or licensed physicians
  • Offer healthcare to patients experiencing severe emotional disorders, psychiatric illness, or substance abuse
  • Perform nursing assessments, planning, interventions, and evaluations
  • Provide health-related education and case management
  • Execute the medical regime, including administering medications and treatments prescribed by authorized healthcare providers
  • Prepare and distribute medications on the unit
  • Perform crisis intervention and collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists, and other nursing staff

Schedule

  • Full-time position with 12-hour shifts
  • Rotating schedule: 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM
  • The agency requires coverage 24 hours, 7 days per week. Work hours and location may vary depending on business necessity. Employees may be required to work weekends and overtime.

Required Qualifications

You must meet one of the following qualification levels:

LPN III:

  • Valid permanent Oklahoma license as a licensed practical nurse approved by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing, plus two years of practical nursing experience; OR
  • Licensed Practical Nurse License recognized by the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC), plus two years of practical nursing experience

LPN II:

  • Valid permanent Oklahoma license as a licensed practical nurse approved by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing, plus one year of practical nursing experience; OR
  • Licensed Practical Nurse License recognized by the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC), plus one year of practical nursing experience

LPN I:

  • Valid permanent Oklahoma license as a licensed practical nurse approved by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing; OR
  • Licensed Practical Nurse License recognized by the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC)

Additional Requirements

  • Strong commitment to patient well-being and safety
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to fulfill job-related travel normally associated with this position
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry 50 pounds and push and pull with a maximum force of 25 pounds
  • Upon conditional offer of employment, must submit to a physical examination meeting the physical requirements listed above
  • Upon conditional offer of employment, must submit to urinalysis drug testing. Appointment is contingent upon a negative drug test result.

Compensation

  • Annual salary: $50,500.00 to $60,000.00
  • Shift differential
  • Holiday pay
  • Non-exempt FLSA status
