PM Pediatrics is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN/LVN) for a part-time position in our pediatric urgent care setting in Parkland, FL. In this role, you will provide clinical and administrative support to physicians, patients, and office operations while delivering direct patient care to pediatric patients within your scope of practice under physician supervision.

Clinical Setting

This is a pediatric urgent care environment where you will work with children and families in a fast-paced clinical setting focused on efficiency and quality patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain medical history, vital signs, and patient intake; prioritize patient care based on individual needs
  • Perform clinical procedures including venipuncture, IV insertion, and urinary straight catheterization
  • Administer medications via oral, rectal, intramuscular, and intravenous routes
  • Assist the physician with total patient care, positioning, and comfort during examinations and x-ray procedures
  • Maintain current knowledge of pediatric pharmacology
  • Perform monthly quality control checks and assist with lab quality control testing
  • Keep exam rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies and maintain proper sterilization of instruments and equipment
  • Practice standard safety precautions and respond promptly to patient emergencies by notifying the physician
  • Establish effective rapport with patients, families, employees, and physicians
  • Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations
  • Follow all office policies and procedures and report needed changes to management
  • Contribute to team efforts and accomplish related tasks as needed
  • Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures
  • Participate in continuing education to maintain and update professional knowledge
  • Assist patients with complaints and take an active role in service recovery when needed
  • Support the physician with focus on efficiency metrics to improve urgent care flow and throughput

Schedule

This position requires a specific schedule: 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM or 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM.

Required Qualifications

  • Pediatric experience required (Pediatric ER, pediatric hospital unit, or pediatric urgent care experience preferred)
  • Active state nursing license or active compact state licensure from your state of residence
  • Prior experience and demonstrated competency with nursing procedures including IV placement, urinary straight catheterization, and medication administration
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Knowledge of medical practice, terminology, clinic processes, and procedures
  • Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments
  • Ability to rapidly assess critical presentations in the pediatric population
  • Ability to use sound reasoning and judgment and remain calm in emergencies
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and nonverbally

Preferred Qualifications

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification

Compensation

Hourly rate: $30.50 to $35.50 per hour, based on experience and required skill set. Actual compensation may vary within this range depending on individual experience and qualifications.
