Guthrie is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse to support the OB/GYN department in a full-time role. You will assist physicians with clinical duties within the scope of LPN practice, working in a busy specialty practice setting that includes office-based procedures and operative support.
Responsibilities
- Direct patients to exam rooms and prepare them for examination or treatment, including vital signs assessment (height, weight, respirations, blood pressure, temperature) and documentation
- Obtain and record patient history, allergies, and medication reconciliation
- Write or call prescriptions after obtaining provider authorization and chart accordingly
- Process insurance referrals via email, fax, or phone and follow up with referral numbers to specialists as requested
- Answer telephones, screen calls by urgency and need, and perform clerical functions as necessary
- Maintain exam and procedure rooms, ensuring proper supplies are stocked, organized, and clean
- Order medications and clinical supplies for the department as requested
- Administer prescribed injections and medications and record administration on patient charts
- Route patients to appropriate areas for ancillary testing or follow-up appointments and enter lab testing information as requested
- Set up and tear down sterile fields
- Prepare surgical trays for procedures
- Assist surgeons with operative procedures in the office and operating room as needed
- Maintain infection control measures including proper cleaning of surgical equipment and autoclave use
- Perform high-level disinfection of departmental equipment as needed
- Perform dressing changes and suture removal
- Assess and report signs and symptoms of infection to the surgeon or provider
- Understand and follow hepatitis protocols to protect surgeon, patient, and nurse
- Fill in for other LPNs, clinical assistants, and medical office assistants as requested
- Maintain proficiency with computer equipment and required software programs
- Attend new employee orientation, mandatory in-services, classes, and training as required
- Comply with organizational dress code policy
- Attend and participate in department meetings and contribute to department and office goals
- Perform other duties as assigned and appropriate for LPN licensure
Required Qualifications
- Active LPN license in the state of practice
Preferred Qualifications
- One year of experience in the healthcare field
Compensation
- Hourly rate: $22.24 - $34.70
- Sign-on bonus up to $15,000.00
