Kaiser Permanente is hiring a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for the Obstetrics/Gynecology department at Lone Tree Medical Offices. This is a float position that rotates between Aurora Centerpoint, Arapahoe, and Lone Tree OBGYN departments. You will provide direct patient care, support physicians and medical providers, and perform nursing procedures under physician orders and approved nursing care plans.
This position is eligible for a $5,000 sign-on bonus. You may also be entitled to translation/bilingual, shift, or other wage premiums as governed by the applicable collective bargaining agreement (SEIU Local 105).
Clinical Setting
You will work in obstetrics and gynecology outpatient departments across multiple Kaiser Permanente locations in the Denver metro area. The role requires the ability to travel to different locations, with approximately 50% travel expected.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care with a focus on patient needs, safety, and satisfaction
- Administer medications (including narcotics) orally or by injection, following the 5 rights and 3 checks of medication administration
- Perform routine and specialized nursing procedures following physician orders and approved nursing care plans
- Perform intravenous therapy if IV certified, as permitted by Colorado State Board of Nursing Chapter IX
- Monitor patient conditions by observing, collecting, reporting, and recording objective and subjective data
- Identify changes in patient condition and report signs, symptoms, and reactions to medications and treatments to the physician, nursing manager, or registered nurse
- Assist physicians with examinations, treatments, and minor surgery by preparing patients and rooms for procedures
- Teach and promote preventive health measures to patients and families regarding home health care, medications, injections, blood pressure monitoring, post-operative care, and diabetic care
- Disseminate pre-printed standard aftercare instructions and patient instruction materials
- Record pertinent patient information in medical charts, including nursing history, physical data, vital signs, symptoms, treatments, examinations, medications administered, and reactions
- Apply principles of asepsis and infection control; maintain a safe and therapeutic patient care environment
- Identify malfunctioning equipment and report safety hazards, accidents, incidents, and unsafe working conditions promptly
- Support physician and medical provider schedules by rooming patients, communicating delays, and anticipating provider needs
- Assist in orienting and training new employees as assigned
- May perform duties of a Nursing Assistant or Medical Receptionist as required
- May assign and coordinate activities for nursing and medical assistants and medical receptionists
- Order, store, and maintain adequate inventory of supplies and instruments as assigned
- Comply with all Kaiser Permanente quality, safety, and emergency policies and procedures
- Demonstrate service behaviors and principles defined by the Kaiser Permanente Service Quality Credo and KP Mission
- Provide superior and culturally sensitive service to colleagues, members, purchasers, contracted providers, and vendors
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited Practical Nursing program
- Licensed as a Practical Nurse (LPN) in the State of Colorado
- Completed a minimum of 400 clock hours of faculty-planned clinical experience and guided learning activities with direct supervision by faculty, associate nursing instructional personnel (ANIP), or preceptor who is physically present or immediately accessible
- High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 3 months of hire
- Demonstrated customer service focus and exemplary service skills
- Ability to travel to different locations
Preferred Qualifications
- BLS certification at time of hire
- Six months of experience with adults, pediatrics, and/or trauma
- IV therapy certification
- OBGYN experience
Schedule
- Full-time, regular employee status
- 40 hours per week
- Monday through Friday
- Day shift (12:00 AM to 11:59 PM)
- This is a flex position with 50% travel to different OBGYN department locations
