The opportunity

Job Description

Kaiser Permanente is hiring a Licensed Practical Nurse for our Nurse Clinic Department at the Wheat Ridge Medical Offices in Colorado. This is a full-time, entry-level position offering a $5,000 sign-on bonus for eligible candidates.

In this role, you will provide direct patient care in a clinic setting, supporting physicians and medical providers while prioritizing patient safety, comfort, and therapeutic outcomes. You will work with diverse patient populations including adults, pediatrics, and trauma cases.

Responsibilities

  • Administer medications (including narcotics) orally or by injection, following the 5 rights and 3 checks of medication administration
  • Perform routine and specialized nursing procedures under physician orders, including therapeutic equipment operation and intravenous therapy (if IV certified)
  • Monitor patient conditions by observing, collecting, and recording objective and subjective data; identify changes in patient status and report deviations from normal health to the physician or nursing manager
  • Assist physicians with examinations, treatments, and minor surgical procedures, including patient and room preparation
  • Teach and promote preventive health measures to patients and families regarding home care, medication use, injections, blood pressure monitoring, post-operative care, and diabetic care
  • Maintain safe and therapeutic patient care environments by applying asepsis and infection control principles, identifying malfunctioning equipment, and ensuring consistent use of two patient identifiers and procedural timeouts
  • Room patients, communicate delays to patients and providers, and facilitate the medical provider schedule
  • Record pertinent patient information in medical charts including nursing history, vital signs, symptoms, treatments, medications administered, and reactions
  • Report safety hazards, accidents, incidents, and unsafe working conditions promptly
  • Assist in orienting and training new employees as assigned
  • May perform duties of a Nursing Assistant or Medical Receptionist as required
  • May assign and coordinate activities for nursing and medical assistants and medical receptionists
  • Order, store, and maintain adequate inventory of supplies and instruments
  • Comply with all Kaiser Permanente quality, safety, and emergency policies and procedures

Required Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited Practical Nursing program
  • Licensed as a Practical Nurse (LPN) in the State of Colorado
  • Completed a minimum of 400 clock hours of faculty-planned clinical experience and guided learning activities with direct supervision by faculty, associate nursing instructional personnel, or preceptor
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • Basic Life Support certification within 3 months of hire
  • Demonstrated customer service focus and exemplary service skills
  • Practice within scope of practice as defined by licensure, standard nursing practice, knowledge, skill level, and Kaiser Permanente guidelines

Preferred Qualifications

  • BLS certification at time of hire
  • Six months of experience with adults, pediatrics, and/or trauma
  • IV therapy certification

Schedule

  • Full-time, 40 hours per week
  • Day shift, 7:45 AM to 6:15 PM
  • Monday through Sunday availability (may include weekend work)
  • Travel required: 25% of the time

Compensation and Benefits

  • $5,000 sign-on bonus (eligible roles)
  • May be entitled to translation/bilingual, shift, or other wage premiums as governed by the applicable collective bargaining agreement (SEIU Local 105)

  • IV therapy certification may be required for some positions.
