St. Peter Regional Treatment Center is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse for the Forensics Night Nursing team. This position provides entry-level practical nursing care in a secure treatment environment serving individuals with mental illness who present a risk to public safety. You will work the night shift (10pm-8am) on a set rotation, delivering therapeutic and person-centered care under the direction of the charge nurse.
Responsibilities
- Administer medications, treatments, and other therapies following practitioner orders and treatment plans
- Assist clients in developing optimal independence in living or provide assistance with Activities of Daily Living as needed
- Complete assigned unit tasks
- Monitor, report, and appropriately document interactions with clients
- Collect and report data about physical and mental health needs of clients
- Respond appropriately to clients' physical and mental health needs
- Document interactions, plans, and client responses to interventions
- Assist the RN in planning and implementation of nursing care plans and multi-disciplinary plans of care
- Respond immediately and appropriately to emergency situations to maintain a safe and therapeutic environment
- Maintain professional boundaries in a manner that creates a positive and caring environment and demonstrates an accepting attitude towards diversity
Clinical Setting
Forensics Services provides mental health evaluation and treatment services to individuals diagnosed with mental illness who present a risk to public safety. This is a safe and secure treatment environment.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from an approved school of nursing
- Current licensure in Minnesota as a Practical Nurse
Note: Future Practical Nurses who are within six months of graduating and taking their NCLEX-LPN are encouraged to apply. Contingent job offers may be made upon successful completion of degree and passing of NCLEX-LPN.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working effectively with others from different backgrounds and cultures
- Previous experience with individuals with diverse backgrounds in a correctional or forensic setting
- Experience working with medical records
Additional Requirements
- Documentation of freedom from tuberculosis (TB) through a blood test prior to employment (DCT does not accept TB skin testing)
- Criminal background check and reference verification will be conducted prior to appointment

Compensation and Benefits
- Salary: $28.01 - $35.83 per hour; $58,484 - $74,813 annually
- Hiring bonus up to $2,500
