Job Description

Fort Loudoun Medical Center is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse for the Medical Surgical Unit. This is a PRN/occasional position with variable hours on the night shift. You will provide nursing care under the supervision of a registered nurse, working within an assigned unit to deliver direct patient care and support the interdisciplinary healthcare team.

Clinical Setting

Fort Loudoun Medical Center is an 87,000-square-foot hospital serving Loudon County and surrounding communities in Lenoir City, Tennessee. Part of Covenant Health, the facility features advanced technology including MRI, CT, ultrasound, diagnostic X-rays, women's imaging, and nuclear medicine. The hospital offers comprehensive services including emergency care, surgery, and specialized treatments across 29 specialties with more than 200 physicians on staff.

Responsibilities

  • Initiate admission database and history in collaboration with the RN
  • Implement patient and family teaching and care needs
  • Perform and prioritize nursing care tasks
  • Follow the nursing plan of care and medical orders under RN direction
  • Observe and report nursing interventions and patient responses
  • Document patient care in a timely, concise, and legible manner
  • Recognize, respond to, and report changes in patient conditions to the RN Team Leader
  • Participate in unit-specific quality assurance activities and patient care conferences as requested
  • Demonstrate principles of infection control and collaborate with the infection control nurse
  • Assist in orienting new employees or students to unit routines
  • Administer IV venipuncture and parenteral fluids per hospital protocol
  • Perform specific advanced patient care treatments as approved per hospital protocol
  • Follow all policies, procedures, and safety standards
  • Complete required annual education assignments
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives as requested
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Current license as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) from the Tennessee Board of Nursing
