The opportunity

Job Description

Mayo Family Clinic Baldwin seeks a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join Baldwin 2, Family Medicine, a comprehensive primary care clinic serving pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients. In this fast-paced outpatient setting, you will collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, registered nurses, allied health professionals, and learners while building meaningful, long-term relationships with patients and families. You will deliver care in-person, via phone or video, and through web-based interactions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care within scope of practice for pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients
  • Conduct focused assessments and reinforce patient education
  • Administer medications, immunizations, and treatments including injections, ear lavages, nebulizer treatments, wound care, catheter care, and suture/staple removal
  • Support population needs for preventive care services, chronic disease management, and quality improvement initiatives
  • Assist with in-clinic procedures
  • Independently manage a nurse visit calendar and clinic workflows to support timely, coordinated care
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills and assist with mentoring, instruction, committees, or quality improvement projects as assigned
  • Collect data through observation and communicate information to assist the RN and provider in patient assessment and care planning
  • Deliver care in accordance with the patient care plan, organizational policies and procedures, and principles of relationship-based care

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing or passed LPN Boards after a defined period in a professional nursing program (e.g., some states allow RN students to take the LPN board exam after completing one to two years in an RN program)
  • Current LPN license by applicable state requirements
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers certification (Arizona and Florida: current BLS required; Midwest: current BLS from American Heart Association or American Red Cross required; positions not on campus may not require current BLS competency as determined by the work area)
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Experience working in a team environment
  • Computer skills required
  • Ability to work daytime hours with flexibility as needed to meet staffing needs
  • Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations within the work setting

Preferred Qualifications

  • One year of LPN experience within the last five years
  • Prior experience with electronic medical record systems
  • Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing

Additional Requirements

  • Additional specialty certification or training as required by the work area
