VitalCore Health Strategies is hiring a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for a PRN position at Genesee County Jail in Grand Flint, Michigan. This role provides nursing care to the incarcerated population within a correctional health care setting, delivering quality care consistent with the scope of practice defined by Michigan's nurse practice act.
Clinical Setting
You will work in a correctional facility providing health care services to inmates. The role operates under the direction of the Health Services Administrator, Director of Nursing, Registered Nurses, Medical Director, or other practitioners as appropriate.
Responsibilities
- Utilize a systematic approach to meet the health needs of each individual patient
- Implement nursing care within the LPN's scope of practice, including compliance with all applicable laws
- Assist in developing and implementing teaching plans based on individual patient needs, addressing health promotion, maintenance, and restoration
- Care for wounds with appropriate cleaning and dressing/bandaging
- Administer medications to patients
- Provide care for multiple patients as directed by the Medical Director, Director of Nursing, or Registered Nurse
- Monitor vital signs and report changes to appropriate medical staff
- Document actions in the medication administration record (MAR) and medical records
- Perform other nursing duties as assigned by the facility
Schedule
- Day shift and night shift positions available
- PRN (as-needed) employment
Required Qualifications
- Graduate from a Licensed Practical Nursing program
- Currently licensed as a Practical Nurse in Michigan
- Active CPR certification
- Knowledge of Michigan state laws and regulations governing nursing practice
- Satisfactory completion of initial and annual clinical competencies as assigned
