We are seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our healthcare team in a secure correctional facility. In this full-time contract position, you will deliver direct patient care to an underserved population while working collaboratively with providers, RNs, and facility safety personnel. This role offers a structured, stable work environment where you can develop and apply diverse clinical skills.
Responsibilities
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments safely in accordance with healthcare provider orders and established safety protocols
- Perform focused patient health screenings and assessments, accurately documenting physical and behavioral findings in real time
- Deliver wound care, assist with chronic disease management, and execute routine nursing interventions to support patient wellness
- Assist with patient intake screenings, initial health history reviews, and comprehensive discharge planning
- Monitor and evaluate ongoing patient health status, remaining vigilant to subtle changes and promptly reporting significant updates to the RN or provider
- Respond swiftly and appropriately to medical emergencies or urgent healthcare needs within the facility
- Educate patients on chronic health conditions, medication compliance, and prescribed treatment plans
- Collaborate with the broader healthcare team and facility staff to ensure continuous, uninterrupted care
- Maintain clear, concise, and regulatory-compliant medical records following established facility guidelines
- Strictly adhere to universal precautions, infection control procedures, and all facility safety protocols
- Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Current, active, and unrestricted Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR certification
- Minimum of one year of professional nursing experience
- Strong clinical assessment capabilities and precise medication administration skills
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Comfort and ability to work effectively and maintain professional boundaries within a secure facility environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience working in correctional healthcare, behavioral health, emergency departments, medical-surgical units, or long-term care environments
- Hands-on experience utilizing Electronic Medical Record (EMR) software platforms
Schedule
- Full-time contract position
- Day shift: 6:00 am to 6:30 pm
- Every other weekend and holiday
