Job Description

Samaritan Daytop Village, a nationally recognized comprehensive Health and Human Services Agency serving over 33,000 New Yorkers annually, is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to support providers in delivering care to clients with substance use disorders and serious mental illness. Working under the general supervision of the RN and/or Physician, you will play a key role in patient assessment, care planning, and treatment delivery while maintaining compliance with OASAS methadone dispensing protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with patient care including checking vital signs, blood draws, obtaining specimens for laboratory analysis and culture as ordered by the medical provider, and discussing chief health concerns
  • Administer injections and immunizations
  • Administer methadone under the supervision of the RN
  • Observe, measure, record, and report data relating to patient mental and physical status
  • Prepare labels and take-home bottles of medication for self-administration by clients when the medical clinic is closed or for clients permitted to self-medicate in accordance with agency policies
  • Record and report any medication spillage that occurs during dispensing
  • Participate in ongoing assessment of patient needs
  • Follow OASAS protocols for methadone dispensing
  • Tally medication sheets at the end of the day
  • Physically count medication at the end of day closing under the supervision of an RN

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Graduate of a formal Technical or Vocational LPN Program
  • New York State LPN license
  • BLS certification
  • At least one year of experience as an LPN working with clients with Substance Use Disorder (SUD) and/or Serious Mental Illness (SMI) or in a similar working environment
  • Proficiency in Phlebotomy and EKG
  • Computer literacy including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and EHR
  • Available to work a flexible schedule as needed in response to participant and staff needs

Compensation

  • $37.36-$38.46 per hour
