Personalcare Registered Professional Nursing P.C. is seeking Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) for full-time night shift positions in the medical department at Niagara County Jail in Lockport, NY. In this role, you will provide comprehensive nursing care to the inmate/patient population, including emergency response, physical health assessments, initial screenings, medication distribution, sick call services, and chronic care clinic support. You will also assist physicians, psychiatrists, and dentists as needed.

Clinical Setting

You will work in a correctional healthcare environment serving the medical needs of incarcerated individuals. The role involves fast-paced clinical work with diverse patient presentations and requires strong assessment and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care while ensuring proper information flow to appropriate personnel
  • Maintain, update, and work with electronic medical records while ensuring security and confidentiality
  • Maintain accurate records of all controlled substances, narcotics, and sharps in accordance with state and federal laws
  • Conduct sick call for patients and provide treatment for illnesses and injuries as defined by written protocol and approved by the Medical Director
  • Observe, report, and document symptoms, reactions, and progress of inmates/patients
  • Participate in the formulation of the plan of care
  • Record, retrieve, and file medical information in inmate/patient medical records

Schedule

  • Full-time night shift: 6:00 PM to 6:30 AM

Onboarding

This position includes a 2-week orientation period with on-the-job training and shadowing with nursing staff.

Required Qualifications

  • Active LPN license in New York

Compensation and Benefits

Base rate: $30.00 per hour, plus shift differentials up to $5.50 per hour.
