Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Pediatric ED

Inova Fairfax Pediatric ED is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide direct patient care in a fast-paced emergency department setting serving pediatric patients. This is a full-time evening position working 3pm to 3am.

Clinical Setting

You will work in the Pediatric Emergency Department at Inova Fairfax, a nationally recognized healthcare leader in safety, quality, and patient experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care utilizing the nursing process under the supervision of a registered professional nurse, an advanced practice provider, or licensed physician
• Collaborate with the registered professional nurse on the execution of patient plans
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to advocate for the clinical, emotional, ethical, spiritual, and cultural needs of patients
• Monitor and report patients' progress toward expected outcomes and deviations to the registered professional nurse, an advanced practice provider, or licensed physician
• Document all patient care activities according to documentation standards and assist healthcare team members with documentation
• Report changes in patient condition to the registered professional nurse, an advanced practice provider, or licensed physician and appropriate healthcare team members in a timely manner
• Delegate appropriate patient care activities to clinical technicians or emergency medical technicians
• Evaluate and maintain the patient care environment to promote safety
• Administer prescribed medications, therapies, and treatments following practical nursing standards
• Assist with patient education and discharge planning under the direction of the registered professional nurse, an advanced practice provider, or licensed physician

Required Qualifications

• Vocational or Technical Diploma in Practical Nursing
• Active Licensed Practical Nurse license in the Commonwealth of Virginia
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association
• No prior experience required

Preferred Qualifications

• One year of experience as an LPN or Medical Assistant
