Inova Fairfax Pediatric ED is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide direct patient care in a fast-paced emergency department setting serving pediatric patients. This is a full-time evening position working 3pm to 3am.
Clinical Setting
You will work in the Pediatric Emergency Department at Inova Fairfax, a nationally recognized healthcare leader in safety, quality, and patient experience.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care utilizing the nursing process under the supervision of a registered professional nurse, an advanced practice provider, or licensed physician
- Collaborate with the registered professional nurse on the execution of patient plans
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to advocate for the clinical, emotional, ethical, spiritual, and cultural needs of patients
- Monitor and report patients' progress toward expected outcomes and deviations to the registered professional nurse, an advanced practice provider, or licensed physician
- Document all patient care activities according to documentation standards and assist healthcare team members with documentation
- Report changes in patient condition to the registered professional nurse, an advanced practice provider, or licensed physician and appropriate healthcare team members in a timely manner
- Delegate appropriate patient care activities to clinical technicians or emergency medical technicians
- Evaluate and maintain the patient care environment to promote safety
- Administer prescribed medications, therapies, and treatments following practical nursing standards
- Assist with patient education and discharge planning under the direction of the registered professional nurse, an advanced practice provider, or licensed physician
Required Qualifications
- Vocational or Technical Diploma in Practical Nursing
- Active Licensed Practical Nurse license in the Commonwealth of Virginia
- BLS certification from the American Heart Association
- No prior experience required
