Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Orthopedic Surgery, Full-Time, Day

Blount Memorial Hospital is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for the Orthopedic Surgery department. In this full-time, day shift position, you will provide direct nursing care to orthopedic patients under the direction of a Registered Nurse or Physician. You will be responsible for patient assessment, monitoring, documentation, and patient/family education.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized patient care based on the plan of care delegated by the Registered Nurse or Physician, addressing physical, emotional, cultural, spiritual, psychosocial, and educational needs
• Monitor and document patient status and condition, including vital signs, drains, dressings, and lab values
• Inform the appropriate Registered Nurse or Physician of activities performed, patient observations and responses, and any changes in patient status
• Maintain accurate patient medical records and treat all records as confidential
• Collect and document data as delegated, which may include use of specialized equipment such as glucometer or pulse oximetry
• Orient patients and families to room and unit routines
• Administer and document medications per policy
• Perform additional duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• Completion of an LPN program recognized by the State Board of Nursing
• One year of experience as an LPN
• Current LPN compact/multistate license recognized by the NCSBN Compact State, or current LPN licensure in the state where you will be working

Alternative Qualifications

• In lieu of one year of LPN experience, successful completion of the Prisma Health Nurse Residency Program or a comparable residency program from another organization is acceptable
• In lieu of one year of LPN experience, enrollment in an accredited LPN to RN transition program is acceptable
• Program equivalency recognized by the State Board of Nursing may be accepted in lieu of completion of a traditional LPN program

• If you obtain RN licensure while employed in this position, Prisma Health will accept your RN licensure for a limited time until you can be placed in an RN position. You must immediately notify your manager and Talent Acquisition if you are scheduled to sit for the NCLEX-RN exam or have obtained RN licensure.
