NaphCare is hiring a Licensed Practical Nurse to join our correctional healthcare team at the Pima County Detention Center in Tucson, Arizona. This full-time evening position offers the opportunity to provide comprehensive medical care to an incarcerated population with complex healthcare needs in a secure, controlled environment.

Clinical Setting

You will work alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals within a detention facility, where security is a top priority. The patient population includes individuals currently incarcerated at Pima County Detention Center with diverse and complex medical needs.

Responsibilities

  • Perform patient assessments and interview patients about current health problems and medication history
  • Take vital signs including blood pressure, temperature, and weight
  • Provide wound care, including cleaning and bandaging injured areas
  • Administer medications, including injections, and monitor patient reactions
  • Maintain medical records and enter information into the electronic health record system (TechCare)
  • Observe patient health and mental health status
  • Provide emergency first aid and respond to medical emergencies
  • Provide patient education and assist with discharge and release planning

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate from a Licensed Practical Nursing program
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Active state certification as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
  • Active BLS CPR Certification from the American Heart Association
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of proprietary and confidential information
  • Display integrity and professionalism; ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
  • Pass the facility's criminal background check and drug screening

Physical Requirements

You must have the ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, and walk significant distances. You must be able to perform physically demanding tasks such as CPR while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout your shift.

Schedule and Compensation

This is a full-time evening position. Pay rates range from $34.11 to $36.00 per hour, plus a $3.00 shift differential for evening shifts.
