Springfield Regional Medical Center is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join the Oncology Services team. In collaboration with the interdisciplinary healthcare team and under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, you will provide skilled nursing care and administer medications to oncology patients. This is a part-time position offering 24 scheduled weekly hours.
Responsibilities
- Participate in the nursing process including data collection, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team
- Provide direct nursing care and assist with patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse, Physician, Physician Assistant, or Advanced Practice Nurse
- Perform patient data collection and observation considering the patient's age, severity of condition, physical and psychosocial needs, cultural factors, and self-care requirements
- Collect and document objective and subjective patient data, including focused observations of pain, pain relief, treatment results, and updates to the plan of care
- Administer ordered medications and treatments within scope of practice as prescribed by a Physician, Physician Assistant, or Nurse Practitioner
- Perform phlebotomy services
- Evaluate patient responses to nursing interventions and communicate findings to appropriate healthcare team members
- Recognize and report significant changes in patient condition and contribute to plan of care revisions
- Demonstrate sensitivity to the needs of a diverse patient population
- Adhere to organizational safety policies and procedures and report potential safety issues
- Delegate delegable nursing tasks in accordance with State Board of Nursing regulations
- Comply with HIPAA and OSHA policies and practice infection control procedures
- Accept accountability for delivery of care and optimal patient outcomes
Required Qualifications
- Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license from the state of employment or LPN applicant status
- BLS Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association
Preferred Qualifications
- One year of clinical patient care experience (such as PCT, CNA, or LPN) in an acute care setting, long-term care facility, or physician practice
- EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) training
- ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification
- PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification
- NRP Neonatal Resuscitation Program certification
- Completion of Basic Arrhythmia class with passing grade (required for Telemetry/Remote Telemetry units)
Schedule
- Part-time, 24 scheduled weekly hours
- Hours: 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
- Every third weekend required
- One summer holiday and one winter holiday required
