New York Health is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our OBGYN department in Smithtown, NY. In this role, you will provide direct patient care support, assist physicians with examinations and procedures, and maintain comprehensive electronic patient records in a collaborative, multidisciplinary healthcare environment.

Schedule

  • Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM
  • 5 days per week, 8.5 hours per day

Responsibilities

  • Set up procedural spaces and sterilize instruments for urologic procedures
  • Assist physicians with examinations and procedures
  • Update and maintain electronic patient records and assist in transitioning hard copy records to digital format
  • Manage physician inbox and prioritize tasks assigned via ONCO EMR
  • Answer phone calls, greet patients, and perform front office duties
  • Maintain medical inventory and place orders for new materials as needed
  • Record patient vital signs, weight, and changes in medical history before appointments
  • Clean and prepare examination rooms prior to patient appointments
  • Escort patients to exam rooms
  • Record patient interview, history, and chief complaint
  • Provide patient education concerning medications, disease management, home treatments, and special diets
  • Prepare patients for examinations and perform routine screening tests
  • Prepare and administer injections
  • Perform phlebotomy and collection of other lab specimens
  • Perform basic lab tests
  • Administer and document medications under physician order, following the five medication rights to reduce potential for medical error

Required Qualifications

  • Current New York State LPN license
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Experience with electronic medical records (EMR)
  • Reliable transportation to any New York Health location for patient care needs
  • Consistent professional conduct and meticulous attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with patients, staff, and other healthcare professionals
