Harris Regional Hospital is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for our 28-bed Medical Surgical Unit. In this role, you will provide direct patient care in a collaborative environment alongside physicians, advanced practitioners, registered nurses, and certified nursing assistants. With a 6:1 patient ratio, you will assess patient needs, administer treatments, and ensure patient comfort and safety in a fast-paced, team-oriented setting.
Clinical Setting
Harris Regional Hospital is an 86-bed acute care facility serving the Western North Carolina community. Our Medical Surgical Unit focuses on delivering high-quality, evidence-based care across multiple service lines including orthopedics, cardiology, general surgery, women's care, and emergency medicine.
Responsibilities
- Assist providers with patient preparation, vital signs collection, medical history documentation, and other pertinent patient information
- Prepare exam rooms for patients
- Assist providers with procedures as directed
- Assist with collection of lab samples
- Administer injections, medications, and wound care as ordered by the provider
- Document all care and education in the medical record
Schedule
This is a full-time position working 3x12-hour night shifts (7 p.m. to 7 a.m.). Holidays and weekends are required. The department utilizes a self-scheduling application.
Required Qualifications
- Current North Carolina or compact state Licensed Practical Nurse license
- Associate degree from an accredited nursing school
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support certification required within 30 days of hire
- AHA ACLS and PALS certifications required within six months of hire
- Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision
- Ability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action
Preferred Qualifications
- One year of nursing experience
Compensation and Bonuses
Up to $7,500 sign-on bonus available for day shift positions with a 2-year commitment for eligible candidates.
