Blount Memorial Hospital is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for the Medical/Surgical unit on a PRN, variable shift basis. In this role, you will provide direct patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse or Physician, working with patients across the medical and surgical spectrum. You will be responsible for monitoring patient status, collecting clinical data, administering medications, maintaining accurate medical records, and communicating patient observations and changes in condition to the nursing and medical team.
Responsibilities
- Provide patient care based on individualized plans of care as delegated by the Registered Nurse or Physician, addressing patients' physical, emotional, cultural, spiritual, psychosocial, and educational needs
- Monitor and document patient status and condition, including vital signs, drains, dressings, and lab values
- Collect and document clinical data as delegated, which may include use of specialized equipment such as glucometers and pulse oximetry
- Administer and document medications per facility policy
- Inform the Registered Nurse or Physician of activities performed, patient observations, responses, and any changes in patient status
- Maintain accurate patient medical records and treat all records as confidential
- Orient patients and families to room and unit routines
- Perform additional patient care functions as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Completion of an LPN program recognized by the State Board of Nursing
- One year of experience as an LPN, OR successful completion of the Prisma Health Nurse Residency Program or comparable residency program from another organization, OR current enrollment in an accredited LPN to RN transition program
- Current LPN compact/multistate license recognized by the NCSBN Compact State, or licensure to practice as an LPN in the state where you will be working
Schedule
- PRN (as needed), variable shifts
Additional Information
- If you obtain RN licensure while employed in this LPN position, Prisma Health will accept your RN licensure for a limited time until you can be placed in an RN position. You must immediately notify your manager and Talent Acquisition if you are scheduled to sit for the NCLEX-RN exam or have obtained RN licensure.
