High Point Medical Center's Nursing Float Pool seeks a Licensed Practical Nurse to provide direct patient care under the supervision of registered nurses. As a float pool LPN, you will work across multiple units and departments, delivering care using the nursing process while adhering to established policies, procedures, and standards of care.

Clinical Setting

You will be assigned to various units within High Point Medical Center, supporting the nursing team in delivering patient-centered care across different patient populations and clinical settings.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care according to established policies, procedures, and standards of care
  • Collect and document patient data, including biological, psychological, social, and cultural factors; detect and report significant changes in patient condition to the registered nurse
  • Assist with developing and implementing the plan of care as directed by the registered nurse
  • Support and reinforce patient teaching according to individualized care plans
  • Document nursing interventions, patient responses, and communicate the effectiveness of interventions and changes in patient condition to the registered nurse
  • Communicate changes in medical orders to the registered nurse
  • Perform clinical tasks and skills including medication administration, IV therapy, wound care, and venipuncture
  • Perform patient positioning and transporting duties using proper technique, which may require lifting and pushing/pulling
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills appropriate to the age of patients served, including understanding of growth and development across the lifespan and the ability to assess and interpret age-specific patient needs

Required Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited or approved program in Practical Nursing
  • Active Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license issued by the state of North Carolina
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA), to be obtained within 6 months of hire

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Proficient computer skills including keyboarding, navigation within a Windows operating system, electronic mail, and electronic medical records systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to develop rapport and maintain positive relationships with patients, families, staff, and physicians
  • Strong organization, prioritization, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to multitask with frequent interruptions

Schedule

  • Full-time position, 36 hours per week
  • Three 12-hour shifts weekly
  • Hours: 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
  • Four weekend shifts in a 6-week period

Compensation and Benefits

  • Pay range: $25.30 to $37.95 per hour, based on qualifications, skills, relevant experience, and training
