Qualifications at a Glance

Education

Licenses

  • Current state licensure as an LPN or LPN applicant status

Preferred

  • One year of clinical patient care experience in acute care, long-term care, or physician practice
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from American Heart Association
  • EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) training
  • Completion of Basic Arrhythmia class with passing grade (required for Telemetry/Remote Telemetry units)

Southside Medical Center, part of Bon Secours, is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for the Emergency Department. This is an 11am-11pm shift position in an acute care setting where you will deliver safe and efficient patient care under the direction of registered nurses, physicians, physician assistants, and advanced practice nurses.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care and assist with patient care as directed by supervising clinical staff
  • Implement the plan of care by providing direct basic nursing care within the LPN scope of practice
  • Perform phlebotomy services
  • Contribute to the plan of care with input from patients, families, and healthcare team members
  • Administer ordered medications and treatments within scope of care, prescribed by licensed physicians, physician assistants, or nurse practitioners
  • Use appropriate medical equipment as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Schedule

  • 11am-11pm shift

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Completion of Basic Arrhythmia class with a passing grade on exam (required for Telemetry/Remote Telemetry units)
