Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Days

Unity Psychiatric Care is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for day shift work in one of our psychiatric hospitals located in Tennessee or Alabama. You will provide direct patient care, nursing assessments, and health education services to patients experiencing mental health crises, behavioral disturbances, and dementia-related conditions. Working under general supervision, you will be accountable for delivering patient care within established standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines set by Unity, CMS, and state licensure standards.

Responsibilities

• Supervise all resident and patient treatments
• Assist physicians and the Director of Nursing in patient treatment and examination
• Document nurses' notes, physicians' orders, discharge plans, dietary changes, reports, evaluations, and studies
• Order from pharmacy, prepare, and administer medications as ordered by physician
• Conduct and monitor prescribed treatments including dressing changes, blood draws, catheter changes, NG tube insertion and removal, and laboratory work as assigned
• Perform emergency procedures such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation and notify family and appropriate third parties in the event of death
• Inventory and request equipment and supplies
• Admit, transfer, and discharge patients

Required Qualifications

• Completion of a Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) Program
• Current State Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license
• Minimum of six months experience in a hospital, long-term care facility, or other health care institution

Preferred Qualifications

• CPI Certification
• CPR Certification
• Technical or other training

Schedule and Physical Requirements

• Position may require unscheduled overtime and weekend work
• Must be willing and able to work flexible hours
• Job will require frequent lifting of objects up to 50 pounds
