Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Cortland Primary Care

Mercy Health is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for our Cortland Primary Care office. In this role, you will work under the direction of a physician to deliver patient care and serve as an integral part of the healthcare team. You will prepare and assess patients for provider visits, observe and record patient responses to medical care, and assist with clinical procedures and administrative duties.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and assess patients for provider visits
• Observe, record, and report patient responses to medical care provided during appointments
• Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare team members to meet patient and family needs
• Implement the plan of care by providing direct basic nursing care within the LPN scope of practice
• Appropriately label and package specimens as trained
• Assist in providing indirect care through clerical or administrative duties as assigned
• Act as a chaperone for healthcare providers during patient examinations as requested
• Assist providers with procedures, treatments, and interventions
• Perform other duties as assigned

Clinical Setting

This position is located in a primary care office setting serving patients of all ages.

Schedule

• 32 hours per week
• Day shift

Required Qualifications

• Active state Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) licensure or LPN applicant status
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
• Ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate care to patients of all ages
• Ability to learn and use a computer-based patient appointment scheduling and registration system
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a team
• Strong interpersonal communication and organization skills

• One year of clinical patient care experience
