This part-time Licensed Practical Nurse position (16 hours per week) provides medication dispensing and nursing assistance in a clinic setting serving patients with complex medical needs, including those with HIV. You will work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and the Medical Director, and will serve as the HIV Coordinator for the clinic, responsible for tracking HIV patients and ensuring continuity of care.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Registered Nurse in performing nursing duties and medication dispensing
  • In the absence of the Registered Nurse, perform all RN responsibilities to ensure continued clinic operations
  • Verify patient identification and observe patient behavior prior to medication or medical service provision
  • Serve as the HIV Coordinator, tracking HIV patients for medical care
  • Adhere to all medication accounting procedures and report any deviations immediately to the Registered Nurse
  • Maintain medical charts, appointment books, and daily visit logbooks
  • Perform independent nursing follow-up care of patients
  • Assist in identifying and recalling patients for follow-up medical and nursing care, including urine toxicology monitoring
  • Assist in admission and physical examinations
  • Provide physicians or physician assistants with urine toxicology and laboratory data as available
  • Attend clinic meetings on a punctual basis
  • Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, vital signs, and assist in urine collection
  • Perform tasks to improve quality of care, staff productivity, and patient satisfaction
  • Perform tasks to enhance reimbursement and reduce service denials

Schedule

  • Predictable schedule with no overnight shifts

Required Qualifications

  • Licensed Practical Nurse state certification
  • Excellent computer skills and working knowledge of electronic medical records
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with patients and co-workers
  • Strong teamwork capabilities
