New York Cancer & Blood Specialists (NYCBS) is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our oncology and hematology team in Washington Heights, NY. In this role, you will provide direct patient care support in a fast-paced outpatient cancer care setting, working alongside oncologists, hematologists, and a compassionate healthcare team dedicated to delivering world-class cancer and blood disorder treatment.
Clinical Setting
You will work in an outpatient oncology and hematology practice serving patients with cancer and blood disorders. The practice emphasizes cutting-edge treatments, innovative research, and patient-centered care across multiple NYCBS locations.
Responsibilities
- Update and maintain electronic medical records with current vital signs, patient demographics, medication reconciliation, allergies, and medical diagnoses
- Manage physician inbox messages and prioritize tasks assigned via the electronic medical record
- Assist in maintaining medical inventory, place orders for new materials, and stock rooms to ensure adequate supplies
- Clean and prepare examination rooms prior to patient appointments
- Escort patients to exam rooms
- Provide patient education concerning medications, disease management, home treatments, and special diets
- Assist physicians with exams and procedures
- Prepare and administer injections
- Perform phlebotomy and collection of other lab specimens
- Perform point-of-care lab testing
- Perform EKGs
- Administer and document medications under physician order, following the five medication rights to reduce potential for medical error
Schedule
- Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM
- Five 8.5-hour days per week
Required Qualifications
- Current New York State LPN license
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMRs)
- Reliable transportation to any NYCBS location for patient care needs
- Consistent professional conduct and meticulous attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills with patients, staff, and other healthcare professionals
- Bilingual English/Spanish proficiency
Compensation and Benefits
- Starting salary: $36 per hour based on experience
- Sign-on bonus: $5,000 for new hires (eligible candidates receive bonus after successfully completing 6 months of continuous employment; bonus is contingent upon employee remaining in good standing at time of payout)
