Valley Springs Behavioral Health Hospital is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our 150-bed inpatient behavioral health facility serving the Western Massachusetts community. This role offers the opportunity to provide direct patient care in a modern, patient-centered environment while working with a supportive, team-oriented clinical team.
Clinical Setting
Valley Springs is a joint venture between Lifepoint Health and Baystate Health. The facility serves child, adult, geriatric, and forensic populations across comprehensive mental health and addiction treatment services. You will work with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6–1:8, supporting balanced assignments and strong work-life balance.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse
- Conduct patient observations and safety checks
- Administer medications safely and according to protocol
- Transcribe and carry out physician orders accurately
- Document patient status, response to interventions, and progress toward goals
- Assist with psychiatric emergencies and crisis stabilization
- Educate patients and families on treatment plans and care expectations
- Serve as a patient advocate, ensuring dignity, rights, and confidentiality
- Participate in interdisciplinary treatment planning
- Support detox monitoring protocols as applicable
- Promote a safe, therapeutic, and recovery-focused environment
Required Qualifications
- Current LPN license in the state of Massachusetts
- Graduate from an accredited practical nursing program
- Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required upon hire
- Strong communication and de-escalation skills
- Ability to remain calm and compassionate in high-pressure situations
- Commitment to patient-centered care
Preferred Qualifications
- CPI or Handle With Care certification, or ability to obtain within 30 days
- Behavioral Health, Psychiatric, Detox, or Med/Surg experience
- Familiarity with trauma-informed care practices
Schedule
3x12 hour shifts, Days (7 a.m.–7 p.m.), rotating weekends
Compensation and Benefits
Hourly Range: $30.00–$44.75 per hour
Up to $7,500 sign-on bonus
