Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Baxter County Home Health

Baxter Health's Home Health department is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse to provide direct patient care in patients' homes. This role offers flexibility with most weekends and evenings free, allowing you to work independently outside the hospital setting while collaborating with an interdisciplinary team including physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy. You will work with diverse patient populations across different age groups, utilizing a wide variety of nursing skills.

Clinical Setting

Home health nursing requires you to visit patients in their homes to deliver skilled nursing care. You will work closely with office staff and therapy professionals to coordinate comprehensive care. The work schedule and daily workload change frequently to meet patient needs, requiring strong adaptability.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care within the scope of practice for assigned patients under the direction of a registered nurse
• Demonstrate competency in a wide variety of nursing skills
• Adhere to all standards of nursing care

• Participate in continuous quality improvement activities

Required Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• Current Arkansas or Compact State PN license in good standing
• Valid and clean driver's license
• Reliable transportation
• Active personal automobile liability insurance coverage of at least $100,000 per person and $300,000 per accident for bodily injury
• Agency-required liability insurance to complete home visits
• Minimum of one year acute care nursing experience
• BLS certification
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively
• Basic computer knowledge
• Driving required

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous nursing experience in a medical-surgical environment
• Enrollment in the Home Health LPN Residency Program at Baxter Health

Physical Demands

This position requires the ability to stand and walk, bend, squat, and twist for up to 8 to 12 hours during shifts. You must be able to lift 50 pounds or more of equipment and assist with lifting patients weighing 125 pounds or more using proper body mechanics. You may need to push wheelchairs with patients and equipment exceeding 150 pounds. The role involves spending eight hours or more in front of a computer using a keyboard and mouse. You must respond quickly in emergency situations including CPR and equipment retrieval, handle critical and highly stressful situations with efficiency and composure, and possess keen hearing and visual acuity to respond to changing patient situations. You may be exposed to inside environmental conditions, hazards including electrical currents, high heat, chemicals, and infectious diseases.

Schedule and Compensation

• Full-time position
• Days shift, 8 AM to 5 PM
• $1,000 sign-on bonus (conditions may apply)
