Wellstar MCG Health Medical Center is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for our Acute Care Ortho Trauma unit in Augusta. This full-time day shift position offers the opportunity to provide direct patient care in a medical/surgical acute care environment while working collaboratively with Registered Nurses and interdisciplinary care teams.

Clinical Setting

You will work in an acute care ortho trauma unit at Wellstar MCG Health Medical Center, providing care to patients with medical and surgical needs. The position operates under the direction of a Registered Nurse or Manager and functions within the LPN scope of practice.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and assist with managing patients' total needs following physician orders with RN oversight and utilization of the nursing process
  • Perform routine nursing procedures to meet patient needs under RN supervision
  • Meet established productivity standards
  • Coordinate care and services with RN and other team members
  • Inform RN, therapist, and clinical supervisor of changes in patient condition as appropriate
  • Collaborate with RN to develop and revise individual plans of care based on patient need and physician order
  • Serve as patient educator to foster self-care or caregiver support
  • Be aware of and report concerns to authorities or agency leadership on any issues affecting patient or staff safety
  • Complete required documentation accurately within established timeframes
  • Demonstrate knowledge and appropriate application of regulatory guidelines
  • Participate in care team conferences with coworkers
  • Check voicemail and secure messaging a minimum of once daily
  • Participate in orientation and education of new employees and nursing students as appropriate
  • Attend continuing education and in-services as directed and needed
  • Remain current in clinical knowledge for patient care
  • Participate in call rotation and weekend visits as needed
  • Serve as a preceptor for new LPN employees
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings, in-services, special projects, and continued education
  • Comply with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct

Schedule

  • Full-time, 40 hours per week
  • Day shift
  • Call rotation and weekend visits as needed

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Active LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) license
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification, BLS-I (Basic Life Support - Instructor), or ARC-BLS (American Red Cross Basic Life Support)
  • Minimum 1 year of medical/surgical nursing practice in an acute care environment
