Kaiser Permanente is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse for the Injection Room at Everett Medical Center. This full-time position provides direct and indirect nursing care to Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Washington members in routine nursing situations under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse or licensed physician. In complex situations where patients are unstable or require urgent or emergent care, the LPN functions under direct RN or physician supervision.

This role is part of the Infusion Therapy department and provides infusion therapy services including blood transfusions, IVIG, hydration, antibiotics, and other treatments. You may also facilitate and coordinate care for members with oncologic diagnoses.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in assessing patient needs for care and communicate with RN/MD providers appropriately and in a timely manner
  • Determine patient purpose for admission or visit and collect relevant data for ongoing care as directed by standards and plan of care
  • Recognize urgent and emergent situations and appropriately refer or manage them
  • Contribute pertinent information to the plan of care and assist in monitoring care
  • Deliver nursing care as determined by the plan or patient needs and recommend modifications as needed
  • Assist patients and families in self-care activities
  • Provide nursing interventions safely and competently and report relevant findings to RN/MD in a timely manner
  • Prepare and administer approved medications at the direction of the RN and upon order from MD, ARNP, or PA
  • Perform treatments and assist with procedures as directed
  • Competently perform skills and tasks as listed on LPN skills competency inventory
  • Assist in evaluating patient response to care through communication and observation
  • Communicate and cooperate with other health care team members in planning and implementing care
  • Orient patients to health care team members, available services, and means of access to those services
  • Demonstrate awareness of the Consumer Bill of Rights and Responsibilities
  • Assist in identifying educational needs and instruct patients according to the educational plan of care
  • Identify patient risk factors and utilize available health education resources for preventive care
  • Record accurate and pertinent data on the medical record according to documentation guidelines
  • Provide a safe environment and adhere to infection control, safety, hazardous waste, universal precautions, and CPR standards
  • Participate in professional development, quality assurance and improvement activities, and work redesign initiatives

Schedule

  • Full-time, 40 hours per week
  • Monday through Friday
  • 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
  • Day shift
  • No travel required

Required Qualifications

  • Degree from an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse program
  • Washington State Practical Nurse License required at hire OR Compact License: Practical Nurse required at hire
  • Basic Life Support certification required at hire

Preferred Qualifications

  • Recent ambulatory care experience
  • Knowledge of electronic patient charting systems
