RHA Health Services is hiring a Licensed Practical Nurse (IDD LPN) to provide holistic nursing care to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, mental health challenges, and substance use needs in group home settings. This is a full-time position offering flexibility between day and night shifts.

Clinical Setting

You will work in group home settings in Chattanooga, Tennessee, providing on-site nursing care and support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and related health needs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide holistic nursing care to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities
  • Observe and assist with gathering health-related data and report health needs to the registered nurse
  • Coordinate preventative and routine medical care for people supported
  • Document nursing care provided
  • Assist physicians with on-site medical clinics where applicable
  • Provide health-related trainings to unlicensed personnel according to state regulations
  • Conduct medication pass observations in the home to ensure staff competency according to state regulations
  • Conduct medication closet assessments
  • Perform quality assurance checks and observations to ensure unlicensed personnel are performing health-related tasks as assigned according to state regulations
  • Observe for and report any abnormal health-related findings to the physician
  • Communicate with physicians, pharmacies, medical suppliers, and the interdisciplinary team
  • Advocate for the people supported and assist with developing community supports to promote optimal health

Required Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited licensed practical nurse program
  • Current LPN license with no restrictions to practice nursing
  • Current CPR certification or eligibility to certify for CPR
  • Credentials required by Federal or State law
  • Ability to communicate effectively with interdisciplinary team members, people supported, and their families
  • Ability to work independently, be organized, and prioritize work tasks
  • Must be at least 18 years of age

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

  • Regularly lift and carry up to 20 pounds; occasionally pull at least 40 pounds
  • Squat, kneel, crawl, crouch, climb, and stoop as part of regular job duties
  • Use hands and fingers to handle or operate objects, tools, or controls
  • Stand and walk for extended periods
  • Demonstrate proficiency in CPR from floor level, which requires working on hands and knees, bending, standing, and lifting
  • Close, distance, and peripheral vision requirements
  • Ability to talk and hear

Exception: For Deaf and Hard of Hearing Programs only, employees must be fluent in American Sign Language (ASL). The requirement to talk and hear does not apply to these positions.

Schedule and Shifts

  • Full-time position
  • Day shift: 8am - 8pm OR Night shift: 8pm - 8am
  • Flexibility to work either shift

Compensation and Incentives

  • $28 per hour
  • $6,000 sign-on bonus
  • No relocation package offered
