Akron Children's is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide skilled nursing care in a home care setting. In this role, you will deliver age-appropriate nursing care to children and families under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or licensed provider, making a direct impact on patient outcomes and family well-being.

Responsibilities

  • Provide age-appropriate nursing care under RN or designated provider supervision, applying knowledge of biological, physical, behavioral, social, and nursing sciences
  • Collect and monitor patient data, including obtaining specimens and labs, and communicate abnormal findings or changes in condition promptly to the appropriate provider
  • Participate in developing and implementing patient care and discharge plans under RN direction
  • Deliver nursing care and treatments as ordered, and assist with personal care and activities of daily living
  • Safely administer prescribed medications, injections, and treatments while monitoring for adverse reactions
  • Provide education to patients, families, and caregivers regarding health, treatments, and self-care
  • Document all aspects of patient care in accordance with hospital policies and nursing care standards
  • Adhere to regulatory standards and Akron Children's policies, maintain a safe and clean environment, and report safety concerns
  • Work collaboratively as a member of the patient care team and engage in ongoing professional development

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited school of licensed practical nursing
  • Current, valid LPN license in the state of Ohio
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
  • Excellent patient care, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels within the organization
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word) or similar software

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum one year of relevant nursing experience
  • Previous experience in healthcare, home care, or physician office settings
  • Experience with electronic medical records (e.g., Epic)
  • Additional certifications such as PEARS, PALS, ACLS, TNCC, or NRP (may be required based on assignment or department)
