As a Licensed Practical Nurse (Days), you will function as a total resident care giver in a long-term care setting, utilizing the nursing process to meet the health care needs of residents in accordance with the Michigan Nurse Practice Act. You will maintain resident privacy, dignity, confidentiality, and respect resident rights throughout your daily work.
Responsibilities
- Perform purposeful hourly rounding including assessment of pain, position, personal needs, and possessions
- Apply the nursing process in provision of resident care
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team in formulation and updating of resident plans of care
- Participate in team and family conferences as needed
- Provide nursing care including wound care and medication administration
- Implement residents' plans of care and enforce hospital policies
- Complete documentation forms and input data as required
- Demonstrate professionalism in written and oral communication with residents, visitors, coworkers, physicians, and other health care members
- Demonstrate knowledge of correct operation and maintenance of equipment utilized for delivery of resident care, striving to prevent potential hazards to residents, visitors, and staff members
- Demonstrate organizational ability in obtaining and utilizing time, equipment, supplies, and resources necessary
- Perform resident discharge planning
- Encourage independence by residents in activities of daily living to the fullest extent possible
- Perform other department-related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of approved school of practical nursing
- Licensed by State of Michigan
- BLS Certification
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in long-term care or acute care setting
Schedule
- Full-time position
- Daily work times: 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
- 72 hours per pay period
- No on-call duties
- Weekends not required
