Licensed Practical Nurse

BriteLife Recovery is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse for overnight shifts to provide nursing care in a behavioral health treatment setting focused on addiction and substance use disorders. This role offers a unique opportunity to maintain therapeutic relationships with patients in a structured environment without the high-acuity demands common in hospital settings. There are no bedpans, IVs, or bed alarms, and all clients perform their own activities of daily living.

BriteLife Recovery operates facilities in Hanover, PA; Hilton Head Island, SC; and West Kill, NY, providing comprehensive treatment for individuals with substance use and co-occurring disorders.

Responsibilities

• Assist the clinical team with the admissions process
• Administer medications, treatments, and procedures according to standard nursing practices and facility policies
• Execute plans of care and medication orders from physicians and nurse practitioners
• Educate clients regarding medication side effects and monitor for adverse reactions
• Monitor clients for substance misuse-related withdrawal symptoms
• Maintain electronic health records (EHR)
• Provide crisis management, often involving intoxicated clients
• Screen for psychoactive substance toxicity, intoxication, and withdrawal symptoms
• Screen for danger to self or others
• Assist with solving residents' problems by working with the interdisciplinary team
• Maintain resident confidentiality and privacy
• Ensure quality of care by adhering to OASAS standards of practice and facility standards
• Positively promote BriteLife Recovery to prospective clients and employees

Required Qualifications

• Current LPN license in good standing in New York
• Experience with documentation and data entry within an EHR
• Demonstrated computer proficiency
• Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally
• Demonstrated customer service skills and ability to interact with staff and clients in a professional manner
• Ability to assess needs and deliver nursing services to individuals detoxifying from substance use
• Ability to screen for psychoactive substance toxicity, intoxication, and withdrawal symptoms
• Ability to screen for danger to self or others
• Ability to analyze and interpret data to determine nursing recommendations and priorities
• Demonstrated adherence to acceptable ethical and behavioral standards of conduct
• Participation in continuing professional development
• Understanding of the benefits and limitations of toxicology testing procedures
• Knowledge of strategies for treating alcohol, cocaine, and other drug use
• Knowledge of medication-assisted therapy
• Ability to provide education and information to individuals and groups concerning their substance use
• Demonstrated knowledge of accepted principles of client record management

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with alcohol or substance use treatment
