You will work collaboratively with Registered Nurses and dialysis technicians to deliver exceptional patient care in a supportive, multidisciplinary environment.

We treat a diverse patient population, including adults from multiple backgrounds, cultures, and ethnicities. Patients receive dialysis treatment 2-3 days per week for 3-5 hours per treatment. Some patients are with us temporarily while their kidney function recovers or they transition to home dialysis, relocate, or receive a transplant, while others receive ongoing care at our center.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct and document thorough assessments of each patient's medical status upon admission and throughout their course of treatment
  • Assist in implementing the patient's treatment plan under the direction of the RN
  • Administer IVP medications specific to the dialysis patient population
  • Initiate and discontinue dialysis treatments using multiple access sites, including AV fistulas, AV grafts, and Central Venous Catheters (CVC)
  • Clean and redress CVC skin sites
  • Draw blood from CVC
  • Respond to CVC line separations
  • Comply with evaluation, treatment, and documentation guidelines of the department
  • Act in compliance with hospital, regulatory, and professional standards and policies
  • Maintain clinical currency by pursuing continuing education opportunities

  • 40 hours per week
  • Days, evenings, and weekends

Physical Requirements

This is a moderate clinical role requiring continual movement, including standing, walking, and lifting 20-50 lbs., along with pushing and pulling medical equipment and assisting with patient positioning. You will perform frequent bending, twisting, and reaching while completing fine motor tasks in busy or confined clinical environments. High sensory acuity is essential for monitoring patient status and responding to alarms or safety concerns. Emotional and cognitive demands are substantial, involving decision-making under pressure, responding to emergencies, and maintaining sustained focus. Environmental exposures include infectious agents, bodily fluids, chemicals, and radiation. TB testing, mask-fit testing, and physical exams are common requirements.
