This position provides nursing care to patients in an ambulatory endocrinology setting under the direct supervision of a registered nurse (RN) or assigned supervisor. As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you will collect patient data through observation, communicate clinical information to support RN and provider assessments, and participate as a member of the healthcare team in meeting patient and family needs.
Responsibilities
- Deliver direct nursing care to assigned patients according to the patient care plan, organizational policies, and principles of relationship-based care
- Collect patient data through observation and communicate findings to the RN and/or provider to support assessment and care planning
- Accept delegation from the RN, assigned supervisor, and provider
- Participate as a member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team
- Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Mentor and instruct others as appropriate
- Participate in committees or quality improvement projects as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited school of practical nursing or passage of LPN Boards after completing a defined period in a professional nursing program (some states allow RN students to take the LPN board exam after one to two years in an RN program)
- Current LPN license as required by applicable state regulations
- If graduation did not occur within the last two years, one year of LPN experience in an applicable setting is required
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience working in a team environment
- Computer skills required; prior experience with electronic medical record (EMR) systems preferred
- Ability to work daytime hours with flexibility to meet staffing needs
- Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations within the work setting
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers certification (Arizona requirement; positions not on campus may not require current BLS competency as determined by the work area)
- Additional specialty certification or training as required by the work area
Preferred Qualifications
- One year of LPN experience within the last five years
- Prior experience with electronic medical record systems
