Alaris Health at Cedar Grove, a 190-bed skilled nursing center in Cedar Grove, New Jersey, is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse to provide direct resident care, oversee nursing personnel, and support unit operations under the direction of the RN/Unit Director.

Clinical Setting

You will work in a skilled nursing facility serving residents requiring rehabilitative and long-term care. The role involves both direct clinical care and supervisory responsibilities on your assigned shift.

Responsibilities

  • Take an active role in direct resident assessment and care
  • Administer medications and treatments to residents with appropriate documentation
  • Maintain clinical documentation related to resident activity
  • Assist in developing and implementing individualized resident care plans and nursing care plans
  • Count and record controlled drugs at the beginning and end of each shift
  • Communicate pertinent clinical data to the charge nurse, supervisor, and physician
  • Provide for the emotional and physical comfort and safety of residents
  • Assist the physician during rounds and resident examinations as needed
  • Supervise and coordinate nursing personnel in providing direct resident care in adherence with state and federal regulations
  • Ensure residents and families receive high-quality service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere that recognizes individual needs and rights
  • Interact professionally with residents, families, visitors, and employees
  • Perform hands-on intervention and participation in patient care situations as required
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of an approved school for practical or vocational nursing
  • Current licensure by the New Jersey State Board of Nursing
  • Good physical and mental health
  • Ability to withstand strenuous physical activity
  • Manual dexterity to handle nursing instruments and equipment
  • Visual and aural acuity to detect changes in resident condition
  • Understanding, patience, and tact in dealing with infirm, chronic, or acutely ill residents
  • Ability to interact positively with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, and the general public
  • General knowledge of personnel policies, procedures, and supervisory responsibilities
  • Ability to work independently, problem solve, and make decisions as necessary
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions in English, including technical instructions
  • Annual verification of a negative TB skin test
