Moccasin Bend Mental Health Institute is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse 3 to lead nursing care on the night shift for Unit 6. This is a leadership-level position within the Licensed Practical Nurse series, responsible for directing the work of technical nursing staff while providing direct patient care in a mental health and substance abuse treatment setting.
Clinical Setting
This position is located at Moccasin Bend Mental Health Institute, a state mental health facility in Hamilton County, Chattanooga, Tennessee. You will work the night shift on Unit 6, providing care to patients in a mental health and substance abuse services environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead the application of nursing techniques required in the care and treatment of patients
- Advise subordinate staff in policies and procedures
- Perform BLS (Basic Life Support) and CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation), and respond to other emergency situations
- Follow prescribed health care plans or protocols, take patient vital signs, and administer medications
- Educate patients and caregivers on maintaining optimal health status, including self-care demonstrations such as dressing changes, self-examinations, activities of daily living, and use of adaptive equipment
- Document assessments, care provided, and patient education; document orders followed, medical interventions, completed tests and results, and medication administration and effectiveness
- Discuss comprehensive health plans with other staff to identify patient and client needs
- Provide education to employees and others
- Maintain adequate, current, and secure inventory of health care supplies and report discrepancies
- Ensure medical equipment and work areas are kept clean and serviceable; report maintenance problems or repairs
- Communicate with internal and external entities
Required Qualifications
- Currently licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the State of Tennessee or holds a privilege to practice under the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC)
- Equivalent to two years of licensed practical nursing experience
- Valid motor vehicle operator license (may be required)
Driver Requirements
Candidates must meet Tennessee driver standards, including:
- A valid driver's license
- For the past five years, no record of driving under the influence (DUI), reckless driving, license suspension for moving violations, or more than 4 moving violations

Compensation
- Monthly: $3,229.00 - $4,852.00
- Annually: $38,748.00 - $58,224.00
