Western Mental Health Institute is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse 3 to lead nursing care and supervise technical nursing staff in a mental health and substance abuse services setting. This is the lead level position in the Licensed Practical Nurse job series, responsible for directing the application of nursing techniques, patient care, and the work of subordinate nursing staff.
Clinical Setting
This position is located at Western Mental Health Institute in Hardeman County, Bolivar, Tennessee. The role is on-site and may require work on days, evenings, nights, and/or weekends.
Responsibilities
- Lead the application of nursing techniques required in care and treatment of patients
- Advise subordinate staff in policies and procedures
- Perform BLS (Basic Life Support) and CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation), and respond to emergency situations
- Follow prescribed health care plans or protocols, take patient vital signs, and administer medication
- Educate patients and caregivers on maintaining optimal health status, including self-care, dressing changes, self-examinations, activities of daily living, and use of adaptive equipment
- Document assessments, care, and education provided to patients, including orders followed, medical interventions, completed tests and results, and drug administration and effectiveness
- Discuss comprehensive health plans with other staff to identify patient and client needs
- Provide education to employees and others
- Maintain adequate, current, and secure inventory of health care supplies and report discrepancies
- Ensure medical equipment and work areas are kept clean and serviceable, and report maintenance problems or repairs
- Communicate with internal and external entities
Required Qualifications
- Currently licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the State of Tennessee or holds a privilege to practice in the State of Tennessee under the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC)
- Equivalent to two years of licensed practical nursing experience
- Valid motor vehicle operator license may be required
- Valid driver's license meeting Tennessee driver standards
Driver Standards
Candidates must meet the following minimum driver qualifications:
- Valid driver's license
- For the past five years, no record of driving under the influence (DUI), reckless driving, license suspension for moving violations, or more than 4 moving violations

- Official transcripts required prior to employment
Compensation and Employment
- Full-time position
- Monthly salary: $3,229.00 - $4,852.00
- Annual salary: $38,748.00 - $58,224.00
