Licensed Practical Nurse (26-27 School Year)

Andrews PK-8 School seeks a Licensed Practical Nurse to provide health care services to students, staff, and faculty. Working under the supervision of the School Nurse and direction of the Health Services Coordinator, you will conduct health screenings, assess health needs, provide first aid and emergency care, and offer health counseling to advance student well-being and academic success.

Clinical Setting

This is a school-based health services position located at Andrews PK-8 School. You will work within the Health Services department under the supervision of Ms. Carrie Battista, Director of Health Services and Building Principal.

Responsibilities

• Conduct health screenings, assess health needs, and provide first aid and emergency care under the supervision of the School Nurse
• Provide routine medical care and first aid to students, staff, and faculty
• Administer medications and perform treatments and procedures as prescribed by a physician
• Comply with established procedures for sending ill or injured persons home or to medical treatment facilities
• Implement student healthcare plans for students with special healthcare needs
• Conduct routine vision and hearing screenings as required by Virginia regulation, including referrals and follow-up
• Maintain and update health records with accurate documentation while maintaining confidentiality of information
• Serve as a health resource person to the school and community
• Assist the RN in promoting wellness through publications, presentations, and classroom visits
• Communicate with students, staff, faculty, parents, and other medical resource persons to share information and determine appropriate actions in accordance with HIPAA and FERPA guidelines
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• Active Virginia LPN license
• Basic Life Support certification
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

Preferred Qualifications

• Considerable nursing experience related to health issues inherent in school-age children

Schedule and Employment

• Full-time position
• 10-month employment period
• Start date: Immediately
• Pay grade H-12: $19.44 - $33.05 per hour
