The opportunity

Job Description

The Division of Pediatric Neurology & Developmental Neuroscience at Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children's Hospital is seeking an Instructor-level Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join the pediatric neurology team at the Main Campus location. This junior-level faculty position will provide advanced nursing care to pediatric patients with a focus on general neurology and epilepsy. You will work alongside senior epilepsy faculty, fellows, and advanced practitioners to deliver clinical care and help reduce the seizure and epilepsy clinic wait list while ensuring excellent follow-up care.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain detailed patient histories and perform physical examinations
  • Perform, order, and interpret diagnostic procedures according to patient health concerns
  • Prescribe appropriate pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments
  • Maintain accurate patient records, write orders, and document progress notes regarding patient status, treatments, and procedures
  • Monitor and ensure accuracy of patient medical records
  • Provide follow-up health maintenance care in accordance with protocols established with the supervising physician
  • Communicate with physicians, patients, and family members regarding patient care
  • Collaborate with providers and practice staff to identify appropriate patients for care management
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

For Nurse Practitioner:

  • Master's degree in Nursing
  • Current Texas RN license
  • Current Texas Advanced Practice Nurse (APRN-NP) licensure
  • Specialty certification as required by the department

For Physician Assistant:

  • Master's degree in Physician Assistant Studies (or Bachelor's degree in Physician Assistant Studies if it was the terminal degree at time of graduation)
  • Current Texas Physician Assistant license
  • Specialty certification as required by the department

Work Authorization
