Infusion Registered Nurse (RN) - Outpatient Oncology @ Marietta

Wellstar is seeking an Infusion Registered Nurse (RN) for our Outpatient Oncology department in Marietta. In this role, you will function as an RN Oncology Infusion Therapy Clinician, providing specialized care to patients receiving chemotherapy, immunotherapy, antineoplastic agents, hazardous drugs, and targeted therapies for malignant and nonmalignant conditions. You will work in an outpatient infusion center setting, though alternate settings may occur as needed.

Clinical Setting

You will be based at 677 Church Street, Building 320/340 in Marietta, GA, working in a specialized outpatient oncology infusion center. Local travel is required, and float staff may be required to float between Cobb Hospital departments based on operational needs. All sites are within 35 miles of Cobb Hospital.

Responsibilities

• Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, antineoplastic agents, hazardous drugs, and targeted therapies using current clinical practice standards
• Perform comprehensive nursing assessments, develop individualized care plans, and evaluate patient outcomes using evidence-based practice and critical thinking
• Provide relationship-based, patient-centered care that is culturally aware and adapted to population-specific characteristics
• Partner with patients and significant others through appropriate teaching methods and communication to ensure patients' goals are central to the plan of care
• Address patients' biological, emotional, developmental, psychosocial, and educational needs in complex clinical situations
• Coordinate safe, quality patient care delivery with interdisciplinary team members through diverse communication methods, including interdisciplinary rounds and case reviews
• Complete timely and accurate documentation while promoting a respectful, inclusive clinical environment
• Meet annual requirements for chemotherapy competence
• Serve as a clinical resource to nursing staff, operational leadership, and medical staff
• Participate in staff meetings, in-services, special projects, and continuing education
• Serve as a preceptor for newly hired RN colleagues
• Promote evidence-based practice, nursing research, and performance improvement initiatives
• Participate in the development of protocols and procedures in collaboration with care managers and other healthcare team members
• Support efficient and effective use of human and material resources
• Comply with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, code of conduct, and the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act
• Perform other duties as assigned

Schedule

• Day shift: 7:30 AM - 5:30 PM

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license (Single State or Multi-state Compact)
• BLS certification (Basic Life Support or American Red Cross Basic Life Support)
• Minimum 2 years of nursing practice in direct patient care, or completion of Wellstar RN New Grad Residency
• Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently
• Strong interpersonal, collaborative, and customer service skills
• Ability to multi-task and function effectively in stressful and emergency situations
• Strong attention to detail in patient care activities and nursing skills
• Time management and personal organization skills
• Computer skills including typing, scanning, using a mouse, and other computing and device use
• Knowledge of and practice within parameters outlined in the Georgia Registered Professional Nurse Practice Act
• Ability to be trained to handle hazardous drugs per USP guidelines
• Delegation skills as defined by Georgia Registered Professional Nurse Practice Act and Wellstar policy
• Ability to coordinate inter- and intra-departmental patient care activities

Education

• Associate degree in Nursing, Diploma in Nursing, or Bachelor's degree in Nursing (Bachelor's preferred)

Licenses and Certifications

• RN - Registered Nurse (Single State) or RN-COMPACT - Registered Nurse (Multi-state Compact)
• BLS - Basic Life Support or ARC-BLS - American Red Cross Basic Life Support or BLS-I - Basic Life Support Instructor
• Chemotherapy Competency through an approved provider (Oncology Nursing Society [ONS] or WellStar Oncology Nursing Readiness and Safety [ONRS]) required upon hire

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of outpatient oncology nursing experience
• Chemotherapy competency prior to hire
• Specialty oncology certification or 12 continuing education credits annually
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing
