House Supervisor (RN)Registered Nurse

Westpark Springs is seeking a House Supervisor (Registered Nurse) to oversee nursing and hospital operations during assigned shifts at this 72-bed behavioral health hospital in Richmond, Texas. In this full-time day position, you will supervise nursing staff, manage scheduling and staffing, provide direct patient care, and support department managers with education, discipline, and compliance. You will serve as a clinical leader and patient advocate while ensuring quality care for psychiatric and behavioral health patients.

Clinical Setting

Westpark Springs is a 72-bed behavioral health hospital located in Richmond, Texas, part of Lifepoint Health's diversified healthcare delivery network. The facility serves patients with psychiatric, chemical dependency, dual diagnosis, and geriatric conditions.

Responsibilities

• Oversee nursing and hospital operations during assigned shifts to ensure quality general and psychiatric patient care
• Manage scheduling and staffing for the nursing department, ensure adequate coverage, minimize overtime and agency use, and approve or deny time-off requests
• Monitor staff attendance, maintain records of tardiness and absences, and assist the Director of Nursing with payroll
• Provide backup nursing and intake assistance, respond to patient needs, and advocate for patients
• Supervise hospital operations when administration is not present, oversee staff performance, and provide coaching and education as needed
• Conduct staff evaluations and deliver disciplinary actions professionally and promptly
• Assist the Director of Nursing in conducting department meetings, document attendance, and prepare meeting minutes
• Provide support to the intake department as necessary
• Maintain knowledge of regulatory standards (TJC, Medicaid, state and federal laws) and ensure compliance
• Perform conflict resolution and mediation with staff, involving appropriate leadership when necessary
• Conduct thorough investigations, collect and document accurate information, and provide reports to appropriate parties
• Demonstrate comprehensive nursing skills including assessments, treatment planning, admission and discharge procedures, medication administration, and delivery of direct patient care as needed
• Ensure documentation is timely, accurate, and complete and deliver quality nursing care to achieve treatment plan goals
• Supervise and mentor nursing and support staff during assigned shift
• Determine staffing level and assignments based on staff availability, staff abilities, census, patient acuity, and work/patient flow
• Float between staff to assist with problem-solving and may take patient assignments to meet staffing needs
• Evaluate the effectiveness of patient care and identify any issues that affect desired patient outcomes
• Respond to complaints about patient care and related services and manage through established channels
• Perform role-specific duties as assigned, including entering orders, performing admissions or discharges, and coordinating transfers
• Ensure staff has necessary equipment and supplies to provide safe, quality patient care
• Integrate evidence-based practices into operations and clinical protocols
• Create and foster an environment that encourages professional growth
• Initiate weekend case management, utilization review screening, assist with discharge planning, and swing intake

Required Qualifications

• Associate's degree in nursing
• Current Registered Nurse license as required by state regulations in which the facility operates
• CPR certification required within 30 days of employment and prior to any patient contact
• De-escalation certification required within 30 days of employment and prior to any patient contact
• Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision
• Ability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action

Preferred Qualifications

• One year of experience in a psychiatric health care facility
• One year of experience in a nursing leadership or management role
• Experience in a psychiatric health-care facility with chemical dependency, dual diagnosis, psychiatric, or geriatric patients
• Experience in patient assessment, family motivation, treatment planning, and communication with external review organizations
