Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone, NY is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join the Hospital Medicine team in a 0.62 FTE daytime role. You will provide high-quality inpatient care alongside a supportive Hospitalist and collaborative clinical team, with meaningful autonomy in a community-focused Critical Access Hospital setting.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, diagnose, and manage hospitalized patients in coordination with the Hospitalist physician
  • Respond to nursing staff calls and evaluate changes in patient condition
  • Order and interpret labs, imaging, and other diagnostic tests
  • Prescribe medications and develop evidence-based treatment plans
  • Complete admissions, daily progress notes, and discharge planning, including summaries and follow-up coordination
  • Support patient flow across inpatient units and partner with interdisciplinary teams to ensure timely, high-quality care

Schedule

  • 0.62 FTE, approximately 25 hours per week
  • Weekday daytime shifts consisting of 8-10 hour shifts, depending on operational needs
  • No night shifts; occasional weekend or holiday participation may be requested

Required Qualifications

  • Active licensure or eligibility as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in New York State
  • Experience required in Hospital Medicine or acute care (new graduates are not eligible)
  • Ability to practice with independence and confidence in a mixed-acuity inpatient environment
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with physicians, nursing, therapies, and case management

Education and Licensure Requirements

For Nurse Practitioners:

  • Completion of a master's, post-master's, or doctoral NP program accredited by CCNE or ACEN
  • Current national certification such as ANCC or equivalent

For Physician Assistants:

  • Graduation from an ARC-PA-accredited PA program or qualifying predecessor program
  • Current NCCPA certification
