Home Infusion IV Technician (Pharmacy Technician 3)

This position provides technical support to pharmacists in a home infusion pharmacy setting. You will prepare sterile intravenous admixtures, unit doses, and home infusion deliveries while maintaining accountability and accuracy in standard operations procedures. You will work under the direct supervision of a pharmacist who is responsible for the safe and proper distribution of medication to home infusion patients.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, mix, and compound sterile medications, including chemotherapy, following aseptic procedure guidelines
• Maintain cleanliness and sterility of USP ISO 5, 7, and 8 areas through daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning
• Prepare and package medication and supplies for patient deliveries
• Organize and restock work areas during and prior to end of shift, and remove expired medication
• Coordinate patient care by answering telephone, filing, and medication profile update and maintenance
• Perform other technician duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma
• Active State of Oregon Pharmacy Technician License
• 2 years of pharmacy work experience, or equivalent additional education
• Certification from the national Pharmacy Technician Certification Board or National Healthcare Association (certification must be maintained)

• Ability to read and understand medical-related terms
• Ability to perform basic pharmaceutical mathematics calculations
• Skill at manipulating small objects, such as needles, syringes, and ampules
• Ability to use mechanical systems for transfer of fluids
• Knowledge of and skill at application of aseptic technique
• Ability to establish priorities in workflow
• Good interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to work under supervision of diverse pharmacists

Preferred Qualifications

• Formal pharmacy technician training program
• Inpatient and outpatient hospital pharmacy experience
• Medical and scientific nomenclature
